This work began as an exploration of ways to relate to more-than-human beings. As a case study, I turned to the wind.
Is it possible to relate to or connect with non-human beings? If so, what is the significance of such a connection? And if it is indeed pertinent, how can it be achieved?
Throughout my research, I sought to distance myself from Anthropocentric solutions, as this is precisely the worldview that has increasingly estranged us from nature. Instead of extracting from nature, I wanted to share. Instead of shortcuts through datasets and apps, I chose to dedicate time to personal contemplation. Rather than imposing, I aimed to co-create.
The images presented here are a record of this attempt to dialogue with something distinct from ourselves. The modular metallic structure featured in the images served as a proxy, helping to render the invisible visible through motion. In addition to films, I also present digital overlays and long-exposure pinhole photographs, intended to observe more-than-human beings through temporalities that differ from our own.
